Cheadle Hulme High School has been designated as a school-centred initial teaching training provider (SCITT) for the age range 11-16 from September 2015. Our school, which is outstanding in every Ofsted category, leads an alliance of schools in Stockport, Tameside and Trafford, passionate about training the teachers of tomorrow.

The ethos underpinning our approach is outlined below:

  • A school-led course built on a foundation of many years’ experience providing high quality ITT.
  • A highly integrated and cohesive course delivered across a successful partnership of schools and enhanced by the delivery of an accredited Mental Health Course.
  • Programme delivery by Specialist Leaders of Education - outstanding practicing classroom teachers who will support the application of your subject knowledge within the classroom.
  • A personalised and bespoke programme, supported by experienced and dedicated mentors, responding the development needs of Associate Teachers.
  • The SCITT awards qualified teacher status and Manchester Metropolitan University accredits the academic award of PGCE. This is worth 60 Masters credits.

CHHS is a cohort 2 Teaching School with an outstanding reputation. Initial Teacher Training has traditionally been a strength of the school. It is the lead school of an alliance of schools within Greater Manchester working in many different contexts.

SCITT Associate Teachers who successfully complete their training may be employed in any school within the wider alliance. There can, however, be no guarantee of employment because of circumstances that may exist in schools, CHHS will be expected to support you in securing employment. Associate Teachers would be required to go through a full and formal application process for any vacancies.
